• Confirm that the SFP transceiver is compatible with the switch and that both ends of the fiber link use the same type (single-mode or multimode) and speed .

Step 2: Physical Inspection

• Ensure the fiber cables are properly seated and not damaged .
• Check that transmit and receive leads are correctly connected (TX to RX and RX to TX), .
• Inspect the SFP connectors and polish type to avoid excessive optical return loss .

Step 3: Restart the Port via CLI

1. Enter global configuration mode:

   configure terminal

2. Enter the interface configuration mode for the port:

   interface

3. Shut down the port:

   shutdown

4. Wait a few seconds, then bring the port back up:

   no shutdown

5. Exit configuration mode and verify the port status again:

   endshow interface status
