How to lay cables when making cable trays

Planning and Tray Selection

Before laying cables, plan the tray route according to site layout, clearance requirements, and load capacity. Choose the appropriate tray type—ladder trays for large power cables with good ventilation, ventilated troughs for smaller control or instrumentation cables, and solid-bottom trays for environments requiring extra protection from dust or moisture . Ensure the tray width and depth match the total cable load, keeping cable fill below 40% of tray capacity to prevent overheating .

Cable Layout and Arrangement

Cables should be laid side by side with slight spacing to allow airflow and reduce heat buildup. Avoid excessive bending and sharp turns, as these can damage insulation .
